I'm not entirely sure why, but I've just been in the zone. I had my DT stuff for August done in the first 2 weeks... a record for me. Usually I get most of it done, but there's always one or two layouts which are done at the last minute. So with this productiveness means I have done a number of layouts that are non-DT.
Firstly, I was very excited to be a winner of a Collage Press "Sweet Shoppe" collection pack after commenting on their blog. Mike has recently taken up electronics (or re-taken up as the case may be) and had been doing it on the dining room table. We decided he needed a desk of his own. We've rearranged it so he has a desk next to my scrapping desk, so we can sit side by side and "hobby" together. Joining the design team changed that. As I used these page kits, I began to realise that rather than being restrictive, using a kit actually forced me to “think outside of the box” and use things (colours, embellies, product lines) that I normally wouldn't have selected myself... great example of this: flowers and the colour pink... especially the colour pink. I had never scrapped with pink before, and I rarely used flowers.

I had to smile when I was putting together my July KT page kit and found myself choosing some pink AND flowers... how times change.

Here is my layout using my kit.
I tried something a little different, and printed part of the photo on swiss dot for a different look. A lot has happened in those 6 weeks or so, the majors being:

A colonoscopy/endoscopy procedure, the results of which I still haven't got because...

We had to rush to the US after receiving the news that Mike's brother, Pete was tragically killed

Spent two weeks in the US with family

Came down with the flu on the way home and spent 4 days in house quarantine waiting to be cleared for swine flu... which we were yesterday (thank God)

Our budgie, Piper, passed away suddenly yesterday morning.

Needless to say, we are looking forward to life returning to "normal". Despite the awful circumstances, it was great to see Mike's family and friends, and meet some I hadn't yet met.

Grief is still raw for everyone. I know I'll be exploring it further in some layouts in the near future. I have realised that I have very few layouts of Mike's family, and I need to change that, as I want to be telling both our stories.

I didn't get to complete all my design team duties this month, but had finished a few finished before we went away, and got a few more projects finished in the early hours of Monday morning (yaay for waking up at 3 to 4am the last 4 days!). Go check out everyone's fantastic work in the gallery.

In other scrapping news, I did a little cleaning/rearranging of my scrap area yesterday, particularly my stamp collection. As I sorted through all my clear stamps, I realized there were one or two (okay, 4) sets that I hadn't even opened, let alone used. So I'm challenging myself to 1) stamp something (no matter how big or small) on every creation I make for the month of June, and 2) use those stamps I haven't yet used!

It was 12.30pm yesterday afternoon, and I was at our monthly scrapbooking morning. I had already completed one layout (my last KT layout for next month... which in itself is amazing. I've never been finished this early), and had some fun using mum's Sizzix and cutting out a few bits and pieces. That's a productive morning for me. I usually barely get one layout done. Anyway, I challenged myself, with the gals as my witness, to finish a layout in the remaining 30 mins... and I did it with 5-10 mins to spare. Yaay!

From the stash: Bazzill cardstock, Kaiser craft scrap; My little shoebox letters; zig pen; EK success ticket punch.

Ok, admittedly it is only a 6x6, and the photo grid was already done for me (I just printed out the grid I posted below... great idea, Mel). But still, it's a record for me. Usually I take at least 1.5 hours to finish a layout, and that's a quick one.

This week, I also completed my "All About Me" challenge. My DH obligingly took some before and after pics - he's learnt what it means to be married to a scrapper.

So here are the before pics:

Yeah... I really needed a tidy up. Way too many split ends.

But before I show you the after shots (oh the suspense!), here's a layout I did on the weekend:

Recording this conversation was the perfect way to use those radish stickers.
From the stash: Kraft cardstock; SEI papers; AC thickers; BG offbeat chipstickers; ribbon; zig pen; Fiskars circle punches.

Ok... so here are the after shots:

Just a bit of a change... :-). I am loving it, but adjusting to it. For one, it's way lighter; I haven't had hair this short since highschool and I haven't had a fringe of any kind for years before that. And I may just have found a hairdresser I like and will stick with (after 3 years in the Ville, I still haven't found a regular hairdresser).

Playing...

...with new products. I trust everyone had a lovely Christmas, and have a happy and healthy new year ahead. We had a lovely Christmas in Brisbane with the family.

January 1st heralded not only a new year, but a new month of TSK inspiration. Check out the gallery.

And I'm sorry for tooting my own horn, so to speak, but this had me practically jumping up and down on Friday morning:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 290px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vnNV-yrkueQ/SV_8BvKrA7I/AAAAAAAAAIM/i8h7gKuYgk4/s320/two+peas+top+ten+web.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287221594327548850" />

In the last few months, I have uploaded a handful of layouts to two peas. For those who don't know, two peas is about the biggest scrapbooking site/community online. When I first got into scrapbooking (and still), I would spend hours on two peas, being inspired. To see one of my layouts in the top ten (be it ever so briefly, it was gone by Friday arvo) was a thrill.

Our Couch This Week

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 195px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vnNV-yrkueQ/SUlv0ElUxnI/AAAAAAAAAIE/JmUXyH-m6PU/s320/couch.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280874978442790514" />

This is what our couch has looked like (or, admittedly, even worse) for most of the week (yes, I have a very patient husband). One draw back of my scrapping desk is that it is in a corner of the spare room, and doesn't get much of the ceiling fan.

I have been playing with Tracy's gorgeous December DT kit. There's been a few "life" things we've been dealing with, which I care not to go into here. We had a major computer crash. Mike is still working at getting everything back up and running. It would appear we've lost pretty much everything on the hard drive. Reminder to everyone: BACK UP your photos! At least I'd printed off a lot of the best ones for scrapping.

In other news, we are well into December, which means our December Design Team creations are up in the gallery. Go take a peak. We've also had a Christmas card challenge - lots of fun, and getting the creative juices flowing. I just wish I had more of the thing called time.

I've been busily working on putting together my DT kit (which isn't until Feb, but I've got to have it together by the end of December). Stay tuned for clues and sneak peaks... :)

I leave you with a little project Mike and I did together last week (that's right... Mike helped. I had him rolling up the strips of paper as he watched TV).

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 158px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vnNV-yrkueQ/ST-cxEc95kI/AAAAAAAAAHY/z96DHtx1h0k/s320/christmas+tree.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278109655124272706" />

From the Stash: Cone; Kaiser patterned papers; Bella chipboard; ink and glitter

Gets you in the Christmas spirit... right?

First DT layouts...

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 242px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vnNV-yrkueQ/SSHctlXQHyI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/WZs3ezTWJX4/s320/home+dream+home+small.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269735714682052386" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 313px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vnNV-yrkueQ/SSHctlartWI/AAAAAAAAAHI/s_379b3_xYk/s320/gpas+garden+small.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269735714696443234" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 318px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vnNV-yrkueQ/SSHctQ0uWbI/AAAAAAAAAHA/LUgQp1Y4M_I/s320/beautiful+small.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269735709168523698" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 313px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vnNV-yrkueQ/SSHctJDIdtI/AAAAAAAAAG4/NRQpaC8VQ_Y/s320/adore+on+stand+small.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269735707081471698" />
...were posted yesterday over at The Scrappin Kats. The challenge was a great one:

1. White, Yellow and Turquiose cardstock - can be any shades of those colour families - you can cut this in any way and use for journalling spots, shapes - this will not be considered an embellishment. No patterned paper is allowed.
2. Hand or machine stitching
3. 3 photos (any size)
4. A title - completely your choice of type, colour, texture
5. Must contain expressive journalling (not just date and who it is) - you can cut your cardstock to create your journalling spot/tag.
6. 2 types of embellishments of your choice (you can use multiples of each type) (eg: flowers and brads) (does not include patterned paper)

This whole challenge was right up my alley. I'm all about machine stitching right now (as you know); I love expressive journalling; and I don't often over embellish, so sticking to only two wasn't too hard. The biggest challenge was using yellow - it's a colour I don't often use too much on my pages. I'm really happy with the resulting layout. Don't want to give too much away until the judging, but here's a little sneak peak.

Creative Holidays

I am loving these holidays. Mike's been busy with uni work, so I've been creating virtually non stop for the last few days. It's been so relaxing. Yesterday I had a sewing lesson - just covering my machine basics. The shop does dressmaker's lessons, so I'm thinking of giving that a go.

Monday's creation:

Kat kindly sent me some of the new AC travel line papers.
